RE: Myakka RV Resort in Venice Fl

Went by many times when Parents lived there never looked inviting to me.
I have stayed in a lot of FL sp's I'll bet it's as nice as the others.
so if you think you will like it go for it.
I'll be there, in Florida, a couple of months myself in 09.

RE: Can couples without kids still enjoy Fort Wilderness?

YES YES YES aren't we all just kids?
I'm 66 and still enjoy FW boat rides, bus rides, whoopee-dee-do-review at the outpost get Resversations before you go and no need to be first in line the seats are assigned, just like the little known restaurant on your right on main street after entering Magic Kingdom
sign up when entering MK and go back for lunch and enjoy the stage show for free well just the cost of lunch.
enjoy enjoy enjoy

RE: Are there any American made trailer tires?

I'm looking to replace the "made in China" tires that came with my travel trailer with some that are "made in America". My tire supplier recommended the Goodyear Marathons, but in checking with Goodyear, they admit that they are actually manufactured in China. I've searched this site, and the internet in general, and can't find a definitive answer regarding tires actually manufactured here. Anyone out there have that info? Thanks.
Sadly, I know of none.
I still have those those bad Carlisle tires on my trailer,
oh yea the are original.
trailers a 2005 with more miles on them than I can remember.

RE: weight limits for entry steps and furniture

What happened is what you thought might happen.
In my opionion you are not the bad guy.
Fat people are harder on furniture WE have a hard time gettin up and WE sometimes just Plop down.
It's not your fault that WE are fat, my friend rides horses which I use to do also, when I was smaller.
Did she or her husband offer pay to FIX the seat back?
It is tought when they are your friends then again if they are your friends they should understand.

RE: Question for RV'ers

I understand that they have all the comforts of home inside but why bother even going to a campground, why dont you just stay at home and park in the street. (SNIP)
Why do you have a pop-up?
why not just sleep on the ground in a sleeping bag.
much closer to nature than a pop-up?
Why do you need all the comforts of a POP-UP?
build a campfire, sleep on the ground....
OR as the saying goes " To each his own"
Don't try and force your ideas on others and don't judge.
THEY may be like me and can't walk or ride a bike anymore and just
enjoy being in a campground.

RE: Adding Cabinet Door Struts

On my Sail boat the lazeretts (storage under the seats) lids are held open with springs that look like door springs.
I used door springs cut to the correct length on one of my old trailers
I fastened them to the door and cabinet on one side to keep them out of the way.
When open the springs are straight and the door pushes against the spring end.
when I need to close the door I just push the spring in the middle it folds and the door can be closed.

RE: Deadbolt Rendered Inoperable

I just tried this on my FR I had to move key back to vertical before it would come out of the lock.
I was locked in a small trailer (scamp) one time they have a very unique lock.
I had to take the lock apart to get out.
yes there is an escape hatch but I'm old and it would have been last resort effort.

RE: Reverse Lights Mod w/ Pics

Thanks for the writeup. I want to add some backup lights to mine and I guess it's about time to do it. One thing I want to do (but haven't figured out how to yet) is disable the TV's backup lights when I'm towing. The bright glare on the front of the RV is a real pain when trying to back into a sight after dark.
I think we have all ran into this problem.
I was thinking I should cover them with something while backing.
something thats removable and easy to attach.
maybe a cloth with some of those magnetic strips sewn in would work.
easy on easy off now to just do it.

RE: unusual trailer

There are two here in Ohio at a storage lot just going to ruin.
owner of lot won't give name of trailer owner.
I don't know if he doesn't want to lose money or is just
protecting owners privacy.

RE: Where's He Ruide?

He Ruide I went down to Waynesville ohio to red stewert airport this weekend.
they hold a fly-in every Labor day weekend.
weather was great, I saw lots of planes and the air-show with lots of great stunt pilots.
One of the pilots was a kid I have known all his life.
to now see him flying stunts is unbelievable but what do you expect he grew up on the airport his folks own. I use to fly with him laying on the shelf behind my seat he was only 2 months old.
anyway just wanted to say hi and let you know it's been a very nice weekend here in Ohio.

RE: PIVOT BED

I have heard of a Jack knife bed.
It is one that looks like a couch but opens up to become a bed, sorta opens lika a jack knife.
They may also be talking about a bed that the mattrest along with the bed support pivots or lifts with the help of lift struts.
